From Facebook Post to Mental Health Movement: Nthati Phakoe’s Inspiring Journey
1 November 2023 by Pascalinah Kabi
It all began with a single Facebook post in 2012 when Nthati Phakoe shared her small daily victories over her psychotic breakdown and the various challenges she faced related to her mental health.
Today, Nthati is the founder of the vibrant Tunasafiri movement, dedicated to assisting people grappling with mental illness in overcoming their challenges, one day at a time. Nthati’s journey teaches Basotho and the entire world that mental health should not be a taboo subject.
Just as people readily inform others when one has a headache or stomachache, the world can collectively triumph in this battle by normalising discussions about our mental health.
